Postings from the Ted Trueblood Chapter of Trout Unlimited
Boise, Idaho
TU Board meeting at Chicago Connection.
Here are the areas of focus for our work in 2008 to create Alta Harris Creek.
View looking downstream through Alta Creek channel (seasonally dry while still under construction). Willow bundle on right bank is well established, as are willows growing in the section downstream.
View looking upstream from culvert crossing at Alta Creek. Crews weeded the kosha and other undesireables in Sept. 2007 and today we are spreading grass seed on the upper banks. Leaves are off the willow but the past two growing seasons have been a success for this section of channel.

Idaho Sportsmen's Caucus January 17
Also, just wanted to let you know that ISCAC’s “Camo Day” is scheduled for January 17th again this year. There will be a day event with folks showing up and speakers at Idaho’s temp. Capital. And then a social event that night. I believe that’s at the Grove Hotel. I, hopefully, will be able to attend that event with Holly that evening after I fly in from DC. It’s basically a kind of “rub elbows and smooz with state legislators” type of thing. It’d be great if you could be – with whoever else wants to show up (maybe Jeff or some other board members?) there as well. I believe that TU needs to support ISCAC as much as possible. I try to attend as many meetings as possible and they’ve, organizationally, been very supportive of our issues. For more details on camo day and the evening event please contact Bill Boyer (ISSU) at 424.3351 or email at: issunlimited@qwest.net Bill is the ISCAC secretary and a great guy.
Rootwad being unloaded near Barber Dam for the Alta Harris Creek side channel.
The strong winds on January 4 blew over this middle-aged spruce in Boise’s East End. It’s now headed to Alta Harris Creek as a rootwad for the side channel. Thanks to Rob Smith and Cyd Weiland for the donation!
